Victim of arbitrary detention according to the United Nations (UN), the former Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic is in an alarming state according to his doctor.
The intensive care unit of the central hospital of Yaoundé has been hosting a VIP patient for three days, precisely on Thursday 30 March 2017. It’s Marafa Hamidou Yaya, former Minister of State for Territorial Administration and Decentralization. In its new edition which will be in the kiosks from tomorrow Monday, April 02, 2017, Jeune Afrique reveals that the former baron of the thirty year old regime of Paul Biya is admitted to the hospital because of the aggravation of his state of health. “Gnawed by an infectious disease, the former secretary general of the presidency, sentenced to twenty years imprisonment for” intellectual complicity of embezzlement of public funds “, is in an alarming state of weakness, according to his doctors” writes the Panafricain weekly.
Deprived of freedom for five years, Marafa Hamidou Yaya is not at his first hospitalization. But this is the first time that the former close associate of Paul Biya, aged 67, is experiencing such a serious alert. His case went from bad to worse and any request for evacuation abroad is systematically rejected by the President of the Republic.
