Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has donated electrical equipment and solar panels to a refugee camp in northern Cameroon, according to a statement by the agency on Monday.
The equipment including an electric generator and 1,100 solar lamps have been delivered to the Minawao refugee camp that hosts Nigerian refugees fleeing violence from Boko Haram, TIKA said.
Speaking at the delivery ceremony, Roksbo Raymond, SDO of Mayo Tsanaga, said Turkey had been helping the refugees in Cameroon for years, and praised its pioneering role in this field on a global scale.
Turkey’s ambassador to Cameroon, Murat Ulku said Turkey continued to provide support to other regions although hosting more than three million refugees itself.
Cameroon is home to more than 85,000 Nigerians fleeing from Boko Haram violence.
