In the 3rd quarter of 2017, MTN Cameroon records a growth of 13.2% on its digital revenues, supported by Mobile Money

The decision made on June 21, 2017, by mobile operator MTN Cameroon, to revise upward the pricing of its Mobile Money service, has not in any way undermined the enthusiasm observed in recent years around this product.

In fact, reveals the online platform, despite this increase in tariffs, mobile money transfer service was the main driver of digital revenues of the operator in the 3rd quarter of 2017.

If these digital revenues grew by 13.2% as of September 30, 2017, we learn, it is mainly because of a “significant growth of Mobile Money (MoMo) revenue” between June and September, a period corresponding, however, to the price increases on this service.

At the same time, we learn from the same source, the data revenues of the operator increased by 18.2% over the same period, thanks to “a strong growth of data users and the penetration of smartphones », among the Cameroonian population.
