Cameroon’s President congratulates Xi Jinping on re-election

President Paul Biya of Cameroon is amongst scores of world leaders who have written to congratulate Chinese leader Xi Jinping on his re-election on October 25, 2017 as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, CPC. The election of Xi Jinping was sequel to the end of the six-day 19th CPC National Congress on October 24, 2017.

In his message on October 25, 2017, Paul Biya felicitated his Chinese counterpart on “his brilliant re-election to the prestigious position of General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party.” He added that his congratulatory message was on behalf of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM party, the Cameroonian people and in his personal capacity.

President Biya wished President Xi full success in his task, reaffirming his profound commitment to the “deep, fruitful and mutually beneficial relations happily enjoyed” by the two countries. Biya stated his readiness to continue working with Xi Jinping to consolidate the “privileged partnership in the interest of the two peoples.”

In an earlier message on October 24, 2017, President Biya also congratulated President Xi, members of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people on the successful holding of the 19th CPC National Congress. He expressed hope that the congress will enable China to continue its victorious march towards greater heights.

President Biya expressed the wish to consolidate the excellent relations between the Communist Party of China and the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement in order to strengthen the friendship between the two peoples and deepen the multi-faceted partnership between the two countries.
