Rigobert Song ready to replace Hugo Broos: “If a proposal is made to me, I will not hesitate because we are here to serve the country”

The former captain of the Indomitable Lions, however, wants for the moment to focus on the preparation of CHAN 2018.

The contract of Hugo Broos at the head of the Indomitable Lions will not be renewed. Arrived in February 2016, the Belgian coach who led Cameroon a year later, to her 5th title of champion of Africa, should leave his position in the coming days. This is the quintessence of a resolution taken yesterday, December 4, 2017 by the Normalization Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

A news to which Hugo Broos was quick to react. “From the moment I receive an official document, we will try to settle things. Cameroon is obliged to pay my salary, that’s all, as well as all the arrears they owe me. For me, there is no problem from the moment they pay what they owe me. But they still have to pay me a lot of money, “said the former coach of FC Bruges.

Hugo Broos ready to leave, who to replace him? This is the main issue that has been feeding the press since the announcement of the news. Asked about it some day earlier, Rigobert Song said he was ready to take his responsibilities, but after the CHAN 2018 – he is the coach of the national Amateur team – “For now, I do not think about it. I have my attention turned to CHAN. Now if we win and a proposal is made to me, I will not hesitate because we are here to serve the country, “said the former captain of the national team.

Record caps with the Indomitable Lions (137), “Magnan” as he is called in Cameroon, enjoys a big popularity rating among football fans. They have not forgotten his conquering attitude on the lawns. This has undoubtedly allowed him to win 2 AfCONs, to play in a final of the Confederation Cup and to participate in 4 editions of the World Cup. If he were to be chosen, his appointment would no doubt be well received.
