In Cameroon, New Age, the Jordanian operator of the Etindé offshore hydrocarbon project has signed a lease agreement for the Topaz Driller platform of Vantage Drilling International to perform drilling services on the Etindé permit. The announcement was made Thursday by Bowleven, a gas company listed on AIM and a New Age partner on the project.
The duration of the contract is 150 days, once the platform enters the Cameroonian territory. According to Bowleven’s details, the Topaz Driller is currently in Southeast Asian waters and will pass through Singapore before traveling to Cameroon.
The drilling program is underway and partners expect the IM-6 well to be drilled in the second quarter of 2018. Last December, Bowleven announced that 2018 will see the drilling of two wells on the Etindé permit. after two postponements in 2016 and 2017 caused by a pitched battle within Bowleven’s executive.
Etindé covers an area of 2,316 km2. New Age y control shares equivalent to 37.5% in the same way as the Russian Lukoil, while Bowleven holds the rest.
